We’ve compiled a list of excellent places to dine in Millburn/ Short Hills. With so many delicious options, you’ll never go hungry!

Breakfast:

Goldberg’s Deli: You don’t need to go to NYC to find the perfect NYC-style bagel. Look no further than Goldberg’s Deli (formerly Bagel Chateau) on Millburn Avenue. This town staple offers a wide variety of fresh bagels baked daily on the premises, along with a long list of yummy spreads. Try their bacon egg and cheese on your choice of bagel, and you won’t want start your day anywhere else.  Menu

 

millburndinerMillburn Diner: If you’re looking for a classic New Jersey diner experience, Millburn Diner is your breakfast destination. It opens early, closes late, and serves dishes from its lengthy and reasonably priced breakfast menu all day long. Whether you want something sweet, like pancakes or waffles, or something savory, like an omelette or lox and bagel, the Millburn Diner has it all, in generous portions. Menu

Rockn’ Joe: This rock n’ roll-themed coffee shop and bistro offers a wide range of specialty coffees and drinks, many of which are designed and named in honor of your favorite bands. Besides excellent beverages, Rockn’ Joe also has a killer food options. Try their fresh quiche or croissants, plop down in one of their many cushy chairs, and stay awhile. Menu

 

 

 

 

Lunch: 

millburndeliMillburn Deli: To visit Millburn without grabbing a sandwich at what town residents affectionately refer to as, simply, “the Deli,” would be to commit sacrilege. This is because you would be missing out on the greatest sandwiches ever in the history of good things between sliced bread.   Every Millburn/Short Hills native has his or her personal favorite. For some, it is the famous Sloppy Joe, for others it is The Gobbler, and still for others the giant grilled sandwich specials of the day, known simply as “grillers.” While the interior of the deli — stuffed with customers and covered from floor to ceiling with all sorts of entertaining signage — is a sight to behold, all seating is outside. If those seats are full, the beautiful Taylor Park and its picnic benches are steps away. Menu

bg16Café Monet: With its quiet atmosphere and delicious French cuisine, this quaint restaurant on Millburn Avenue is the perfect place for a more intimate lunch outing. Many customers rave over the chicken sandwich, which is served on a fresh baguette. The French onion soup is also a big hit. Don’t forget to BYOB and try their super sweet Crème brûlée! Menu

 

Tinga-TaqueriaTinga Taqueria: This cool Mexican restaurant in the heart of town has something for everyone. The burritos are big, the chips and salsa are abundant, and the ambiance is lively and friendly. And unlike many Mexican restaurants, this one has tons of vegetarian options!   Whether you want to eat in, take out, or order for delivery, Tinga has your back (and your favorite hot sauce). Dinner: 

boxcarBoxcar Bar & Grill: If you’re taking the train into Short Hills, you don’t have to leave the station to have an excellent dining experience. From juicy burgers to thin crust pizzas, ceviche to salads, the Boxcar Bar has all the ingredients for a fun, relaxing hangout with family and friends. Enjoy your food and drink outside, at the bar, and even in the station waiting area.
