Our Lady of Sorrows School

Our Lady of Sorrows is a private Catholic elementary school in South Orange established in 1890 and accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. The school opened during the leadership of Rev. John Salaun in April of 1875.

What is a Tricky Tray?

Some of you have probably attended tricky tray events before. But there are also a number of people out there who are not familiar with this concept.  So what exactly is a tricky tray? Tricky tray fundraisers are known by many names — brown bag auctions, Chinese basket actions, gift auctions, as well as penny auctions. At these fundraisers, guests will buy raffle tickets and place them in canisters close to the items they want to win. Each guest can buy as many tickets as they want to increase the chances of winning. Our Lady of Sorrows 11th Annual Tricky Tray admission is sold for $25-30, which comes with a sheet of tickets.

Tricky Trays are not that easy to set up and hence their name. But with good organizers, any tricky tray event can surely be a success. Prizes are displayed on tables and each will have a box near them. Prizes can be categorized according to the retail value or size so that it will be easier for participants to decide on what to bid.

Surely the most exciting part of any tricky tray, and especially true for Our Lady of Sorrows is, of course, the end of the event when the winners are called. Now over a decade later — don’t miss this chance to support the school and have a few laughs too.

Good luck!
