Millburn, New Jersey has a number of beautiful parks and recreational areas. The recreation department for Millburn also provides a number of programs that everyone in the family can take advantage of. Here are some ideal locations that are perfect for an outing with loved ones.

Taylor Park

This park is 16 acres and has a number of outdoor activities for Millburn visitors and residents to enjoy. Basketball and tennis courts are available, or you can engage in a game of baseball on the large field at Taylor Park. The walking trail in the recreational area is perfect for taking an evening stroll or a morning jog. Taylor Park is also home to the Bauer Community Center, where you can hold events like birthday parties or family reunions. To get more information on upcoming park activities, call: 973.564.7750.

Gero Park

The huge playground is what makes Gero Park so appealing. The facility is built on 36 acres, and the property offers plenty of room to play baseball, basketball and roller hockey. The large recreational building at the park makes it an ideal location for your next family get-together.

Gero Park is also home to the Millburn Township Pool. Residents can use the park from Memorial Day until Labor Day. The pool includes a slide, which is especially fun for children, and there’s a smaller pool for wading. Instructors are also available to provide swimming lessons for children at the Millburn Township Pool; call: 973.379.3822 for information. You can reach the building staff to reserve the recreational center or get information about the sports facilities at 973.379.2221.

If you’re a golf enthusiast, you won’t want to leave Millburn without checking out the Millburn Township Par 3 Golf Course, which I also at Gero Park. This is a Par 3 course that opens on the first of April each year. Limited guest memberships are available for the golf course, but the property is mainly for Millburn residents. Call: 973.379.4156 to reach the golf course staff.

Get your friends and family together for a game of baseball at Hobert Avenue Park, located in Short Hills. This is also where the Millburn Short Hill little league plays, so you can call: 973.379.5423 to get more information on the team schedule and get more details for signing your child up.

Old Short Hills Park

Old Short Hills Park is another attractive feature of the Millburn area. The park is 41 acres, making it one of the best places to have a large family picnic. Since the area was created for passive recreation, you won’t find facilities for organized sports like basketball courts, baseball fields or playgrounds. However, there’s plenty of room o the grounds for you to create your own fun. Green Wood Gardens is part of Old Short Hills Park and is a registered historic area. You and your family can take garden tours year-round in the area to take in all the beautiful trees and flowers. To make a tour reservation, call: 973.258.4026.
