Judy Garland’s Former Bel Air Home Sells for $6.7 Million

The former home of actress Judy Garland recently sold in Bel Air for the second time in two years.  The actress played ‘Dorothy’ in 1939 classic film The Wizard of Oz, and went on to play in many other films.  The home was designed by architects Wallace-Neff and is a traditional 2-story built in 1938 on a lot of 2.5 acres.  The 5,500 sq. ft home features dormer windows, bay windows and a front porch with white columns.  The period home has 5 bedrooms and 6.5 baths, and French doors throughout.  The grounds also features a swimming pool and a guest house.  The home previously sold in 2011 for $5.2 Million and was renovated before being resold this year for $6.8 Million.

Garland moved into the home in 1939 and is said to have had many parties there with fellow actor Mickey Rooney.  The two actors were in several famous pictures together and were friends as well.  Garland lived at the property for nearly a decade with her mother.  The home was later rented some years later to Marvin Gaye and Quincy Jones.  The house continues to get many visitors from tourists who come to Hollywood to see homes of famous actors and celebrities.
