Culture thrives in the town of Madison as the home to two fine universities – Drew University and Fairleigh Dickinson University. But that’s just the start.
The longest running Shakespeare Theatre on the east coast, the theatre continues to receive critical acclaim. In 2002 and 2006, The Star Ledger named the company “Regional Theatre of the Year” and the Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation awarded the theatre a prestigious Strategic Partnership Grant in the amount of $1million.
In addition to its acclaimed artistry and theatrical excellence, the theatre focuses on education for young artists as a training facility for theatre students and young audiences.
The annual season is presented in the state-of-the-art F.M. Kirby Shakespeare Theatre at Drew University from May through December. Each summer, audiences enjoy productions at The Greek Theatre, an open-air amphitheatre, located on the campus of The College of St. Elizabeth in nearby Morris Township.
