The township offers a wide variety of entertainment and leisure options, both indoor and out.  In addition to restaurants and cafes, downtown features a four-screen movie theater, a paint studio and interactive science and play spaces. Millburn even boasts its own live theater culture due to the presence of the highly acclaimed Paper Mill Playhouse, a thriving, non-profit regional theater that is often frequented by high-profile celebrity guests. 
 
Featuring an abundance of lush, green spaces, Millburn/Short Hills is perfect for people who enjoy being outdoors. Home to part of the South Mountain Reservation, both novice and hardened hikers will enjoy traversing the many hiking trails that are found throughout the nature reserve’s 2,100+ acres. The Cora Hartshorn Arboretum and Bird Sanctuary, which serves as an environmental education center, is a delight for nature lovers of all ages and features a historic woodlands garden with a wealth of different trees and wildlife alongside one of the greatest concentrations of native wild flowers in New Jersey. Another key attraction is  Greenwood Gardens. This lovely 28-acre public garden, just within Old Short Hills Park, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is described as a time capsule of New Jersey’s gracious past. Taylor Park, in the heart of downtown Millburn, provides gorgeously maintained public spaces, gardens, a well- equipped playground, walking paths, athletic courts and fields as well as the Bauer Community Center. Gero Park is home to the township’s municipal swimming pool, 9-hole golf course as well as playgrounds, fields, and athletic courts.
 
Living in Millburn/Short Hills offers access to many excellent golf courses including the world-renowned Baltrusol Golf Club and the Canoe Brook Country Club. The Racquets Club of Short Hills offers top-notch facilities for tennis and racquetball enthusiasts as well as a swimming pool and a number of other luxurious amenities. Throughout the year, the Millburn Township Recreation Department sponsors multiple sports leagues, summer camps and clinics for both young and old.
 
Millburn/Short Hills boasts some of the best shopping outside of Manhattan with local retail destinations providing everything from designer clothing to farm fresh produce.  The Mall at Short Hills is the epitome of luxury, offering valet parking, a relaxed atmosphere, and 150 upscale stores. This impressive shopping destination provides an unrivaled shopping experience, combining class and convenience.  Downtown Millburn also has a relaxing shopping district with classic charm and a great selection of independent specialty shops and boutiques in addition to a local farmer’s market that sells fresh produce at affordable rates.

A culinary hotspot, the Township’s charming downtown areas are well-known for their fabulous selection of restaurants, bars, bakeries, baristas and outdoor cafes, so there’s need to go very far to find what you’re craving for breakfast, lunch, dinner – or anytime in between. The renowned Millburn Deli, who has been serving sandwiches since 1947, has often been voted as one of the top sandwich purveyors on the East Coast. The restaurant scene can’t be beat, offering first-rate fare in a range of homey and high-class settings!

The posh Mall of Short Hills also features outstanding dining options including Primo Mercato, an upscale Italian food market with a chic modern twist that’s similar to Eately in New York City.

One of the best things about living in the Millburn/Short Hills area is the hassle-free commute to Manhattan, whether by car or public transportation. Due to the ease of commuting into Manhattan, the area is a popular choice for New York-based professionals. Neighborhoods are serviced by both the Millburn and Short Hills Train Stations in addition to the  Maplewood Jitney Service, which provides service to the nearby  Maplewood Station. Sitting along NJ Transit’s Morris & Essex and Gladstone Branch lines, all three stations are conveniently located and can get you to New York Penn Station in less than 40 minutes. 

The Millburn/Short Hills area also offers easy access to routes 24, 280, I-78, the New Jersey Turnpike, and the Garden State Parkway by car. And, last but certainly not least for the business jetsetter, The Newark Liberty Airport, a major continental and international gateway, is only a 20-minute drive away.
