Spring is in the air. Flowers bloom, green has replaced the white of winter, and what better way to celebrate this greenery than to pull out the weeds and cultivate a garden? The Maplewood Artist Collective, a local group of volunteers working to bring art-oriented events to the community, is excited to host its first 2015 Gardening Contest, and wants you to join!
The contest will begin on May 1 and is open to all Maplewood residents who personally maintain a bed, vegetable, or container garden. If you are interested, you can post photos of your garden online at www.gardensofmaplewoood.com. Photos will remain up for the public to view until July 17.
Gardens will be separated into categories: bed, edible and container, and additional runner categories. This year’s group of judges includes Mayor Vic DeLuca, Karen Donovan 9president of Maplewood Garden Club) and Joy Yagid (president of Maplewood Community Garden). They will pick the winners and award them generous prizes that are sponsored by the Vanessa Pollack Keller-Williams team. Additionally, a “Viewer’s Choice” winner will receive an award based on online votes.
