If you have kids and they love painting, don’t miss the Paint-a-Palooza special event at the Visual Arts Center of New Jersey in Summit on Friday, December 14. The entire evening will be dedicated to hands-on painting activities and projects. This painting celebration will be co-chaired by Helaine Winer and Sue Welch promising to be an evening of fun and entertainment for families. Celebration highlights include festivities, a kid-friendly fare and numerous art–making projects. In addition, Paint-a-Palooza will kick-off the 2013 anniversary celebration of the Visual Arts Center, making next year its 80th year. This Summit gem was established in 1933 and ever since has been the largest institution dedicated to contemporary art in the state of New Jersey.
The Arts Center in Summit will be filled with children and adults eager to spend a lovely evening in this artistic environment. Paint-a-Palooza brings people and art together — it doesn’t matter if you’re an experienced artist or not, come and show your appreciation for art and have lots of fun.
Some of the celebrated activities will include “Give Me a Hand”, where the children will prepare a group painting collage and the “Keith Haring-ish” that will involve painted silhouettes. Free-spirited attendees can make abstract paintings on the wall by choosing the “Jackson Pollack-esque” activity. “Paint the Town” will allow participants to paint the most famous Summit landmarks and the “Zoo-a-Palooza” will feature an animal zoo wall that the children can fill with colors.
The Duo-palooza ticket costs $75 and offers admission for 2 adults. The Fam-a-palooza costs $125 and admits 3 kids and 2 adults. Various sponsorship opportunities are also available with recognition on the event’s website, t-shirts and materials. All donations and money raised at the Paint-a-Palooza will benefit outreach initiatives for K-12 students and kids. Show your artistic side and join the many who will celebrate art.
