The Great Swamp Watershed Association (GSWA) will hold a wine tasting event on Wednesday, February 19, for all New Jerseyans who live, work, play, or simply enjoy passing through the state’s Great Swamp region straddling Morris County and Somerset County.  This Valentine’s-Day-themed social mixer offers those who love the Great Swamp an opportunity to meet each other in a fun and relaxed setting, and catch up on regional clean water issues. From 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., GSWA’s Water, Wine, and Chocolate party — held at the organization’s headquarters at 568 Tempe Wick Road in Morristown — will offer tastes of a variety of fine wines along with several gourmet cheese and chocolate pairings.  Throughout the evening, GSWA’s Director of Water Quality Programs Laura Kelm will challenge partygoers to take the Great Swamp Match Game Challenge — a fun, new game that tests participants’ knowledge of the Great Swamp and the waters of each of its five tributary streams.  Later in the evening, GSWA’s resident trivia master, Director of Outreach and Education Hazel England, will present one her famous environmental fun quizzes.  Special prizes will be awarded to winners from both games. Admission is free, but each participant must bring along at least one friend to enjoy the festivities.  (Sweethearts welcome.)  Registration is required.  To register, get driving directions, or find additional details online, visit GreatSwamp.org.  To register by phone, call (973) 538-3500 x22.  All participants must be 21 years of age or older. An anonymous donor will match, dollar-for-dollar, all contributions made to the Great Swamp Watershed Association during the Water, Wine, and Chocolate event. Prior GSWA tastings have included the following wines: a 2010 Chateau Maris Syrah (Languedoc, France), a 2011 Sélection Laurence Féraud Côtes du Rhône (France), a 2012 Dr Lippold Empress Josephine’s Riesling (Mosel, Germany), and a 2010 Waterbrook Late Harvest Semillon Ice Wine (Columbia Valley, Washington). This program is presented by the Great Swamp Watershed Association, a registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization headquartered in Morristown, NJ.
