Families Recreate Downtown Summit — LEGO Block by Lego Block
This past Sunday, 50 families joined together at Washington School’s gymnasium in Summit New Jersey to participate in the 6th Annual Architectural Workshop recreating downtown Summit out of LEGO blocks. Truly unbelievable to think of a huge map of downtown Summit highlighting streets and historic buildings and over 50,000 colorful LEGO squares and rectangles being assembled to replicate this beautiful town. Each one unique and truly a work of art!
The event is organized as a fundraiser for the Summit Historical Society, a membership organization created to preserve and disseminate information about Summit’s rich heritage. Read more
Downtown Millburn Welcomes The Salad House
Downtown Millburn Welcomes The Salad House
If you’re like me, nothing satisfies my hunger better than a big, hearty salad with all the fixings’. And depending on the day’s cravings, I like to mix and match toppings to suit my mood du jour. So when I learned about The Salad House by Cioffi’s (www.createyoursalad.com), opening its doors in December right in the heart of downtown Millburn at 343 Millburn Avenue, I was thrilled.
Their story is a touching one. In 1958, Antonio Cioffi arrived in America with his new bride and only $20. Read more

Work in NYC? 10 Reasons why you should commute from New Jersey.
10 Reasons why you should move from Manhattan to our awesome New Jersey towns….
1. NJ Transit- Midtown Direct Train gets you into New York Penn Station in 25-50 minutes from South Orange, Maplewood, Millburn, Short Hills, Summit. After Summit, the trainline branches off to: Chatham, Madison, Convent Station… and the other branch heads to New Providence and Berkeley Heights…. Need NYC restaurant recommendations for an 18 year old’s birthday party? Just ask my awesome facebook friends!
I know my Midtown Direct Trainline Town restaurants, but for NYC restaurants? I totally trust my facebook friends’ recommendations… yes, even more so than www.yelp.com . Why? Maybe because I feel they know me and know what I’d want.

Millburn Deli will launch The Sue Adler.Combo sandwich April 1st!
Millburn-Short Hills, NJ —No matter how you slice it, few things in life are better than a great sandwich. On April 1, 2010, The Millburn Deli will launch its latest taste sensation: The SueAdler.Combo, with $1 from each purchase going to beef up the Millburn-Short Hills Volunteer First Aid Squad. Here is the article found in the Item of Millburn-Short Hills and NorthJersey.com
My yummy signature sandwich, the Sue Adler.Combo, will feature grilled chicken, fresh Mozzarella cheese, ripe avocados, fire-roasted tomatoes, crisp cucumbers, tender baby greens, a drizzle of Balsamic Vinegar, and a hint of pesto, served fresh on thinly-sliced whole-grain bread. The scrumptious sandwich will appear in the showcase of the Millburn Deli for 6 months. I won the opportunity to have my name immortalized in the annals of sandwichdom ( ha ha) during a charity auction at the Newcomers/Encore Club of Millburn-Short Hills’ Winter Gala. It’s so cool to be able to give back to my community in a way that’s so much fun! What better way could there be to show your appreciation than by filling bellies and helping out a great organization, like the Millburn-Short Hills First Aid Squad, in the process?
Manhattan Bagel to open in Summit NJ
When I moved from the Philly burbs, where we had great bagels from places like Hymies and Murrays, I just expected that living ”outside of NYC” the bagels could all be bought fresh out of the oven with a crusty exterior with the soft inside. mmmm. They’re fine, so I’m not really complaining, but they just dont exceed my expectations either. So the news of Akram Kwaik opening up a Manhattan Bagel in Summit is music to my ears, that is, if the bagels actually taste like New York bagels . Is anyone out there familiar with them?
That brings me to my next question… where are your favorite places to get great bagels around here? Would you vote for Livingston Bagel , Bagel Chateau, or Bagels 4 You in Short Hills? Any others? |
